The Mountain Leader is designed for people who want to lead groups in the mountainous areas of the UK and Ireland in summer conditions. The Rock Climbing Instructor enables experienced rock climbers to instruct climbing on single pitch crags and artificial climbing walls/towers. Residential courses are based at Humphrey Head Outdoor Centre in the South Lakes. We also have a training room here for non-residential courses.
Mountain Leader courses use a range of hill and mountain areas within close proximity to the base. Rock Climbing Instructor venues are within easy reach of several climbing walls and a range of single pitch crags with a variety of rock types.ML Pre-assessment or Reassessment (1-2 days) Available by arrangment with experienced ML assessor John Mason. All trainers are experienced outdoor leaders (APIOL) and have a background in Mountain Rescue and outdoor first aid. All our 16hr courses are suitable for NGB and AALA needs, and are reported as being at a slightly higher standard than REC/ITC. Access to level 4 courses is only for people with sufficient previous expereince. First Aid at Work courses with an outdoor element are also suitable for this plus for Horse Riding Instructors. The 8hr course is sufficient for RYA and Scout requirements. Shorter courses are for people working close to assistance.
